Number of Backers

Hey people,

I thought I’d just point out how wonderfully ironic it is that our total number of backers on KickStarter turned out to be 27. That is all.

Revealing Stuff, One Update at a Time #3

Originally posted at KickStarter

Alright, so here I am for the last update I’ll post before our time runs out for funding on KickStarter. I’d like to once again thank everybody for their overwhelming support, oh and also the money, I can’t forget to thank you for that. Thanks for multi-handedly funding our album! Do remember though that even after this page has finished taking donations, we will still be accepting funds for the rest of the year via PayPal. If you or your friends are so inclined, you can send some sweet green to oddaustin@gmail.com when signed into your account. Anyway, here’s some stuff:

5. Raymond and Scum will be performing a cover of “One More Minute”. On this cover R&S take a nice Elvis doo-wop style parody and transform it into a grungy rock track, it’s quite cool. If you want to hear it, there’s a video of a different mix of the song on the band’s YouTube page. The official mix will of course be on the album, so look forward to that.

6. Shael Riley and the Double Ice Backfire will be performing a cover of “Melanie”. I’m a huge fan of these guys, if you haven’t heard of them I insist you check them out online by way of Google search. I greatly look forward to seeing how they add their nifty chip-tune style to this stalker ballad.

There ya go, folks. There’s your final update on the album for the foreseeable future. I may add a new one eventually, so if these updates were the only thing keeping you from jumping to a watery death, don’t lose all hope just yet! Ah hell, here’s a song! This one is from Lager Rhythms, it will be included as a bonus track for the album.

Eleven Days

Originally posted at KickStarter

Wow, it’s getting down to the final days of our alloted KickStarter funding time, it feels like just sixty-six days since I started this page. Over the next week or so I hope to give at least one more update on the album, if possible. I didn’t want to reiterate details you’ve already heard.

I’d like to thank each and every one of our current twenty-five backers who have made this fund raising such a success. Thanks to all of you for your generosity. Furthermore, I apologize for the fact that your kind donations will be awarded with a long wait. It’s going to take some time to get all of the artists who have agreed to take part in this album to finish their songs and mix them properly. We’re hoping for a a February 2011 release.

Lastly, I’ll mention that there are, in fact, eleven days left in our funding time. If you have any Al fan friends that may like to get their copy bought early and help with the productions costs, please make them aware that even the smallest amount is astronomically useful. Do they only want to hear a song recorded by a particular artist? Great! If they donate one dollar they get to choose one song to download! Everybody wins! Yay for winning! Let’s make these last eleven days memorable! Though, now that I think about it, even after this KickStarter thing ends, we’ll still be taking donations via PayPal through the project’s official page. So…. yeah, be aware of that.

Postscript: If you have any questions regarding the project, please don’t hesitate to ask Jace or me, our contact information can be found at the ‘official’ album page at http://www.nuclearbubblewrap.com/weirdaltribute

Revealing Stuff, One Update at a Time #2

Here goes another revealing of things update for you backers and interested people who stumbled upon our project. Unlike on the last update I will not spend two excruciatingly long paragraphs describing something that really doesn’t need to be described in all that much detail, here’s some information for you to be informed on:

3. Worm Quartet will be performing a cover of “Dare to be Stupid”. Now if you’ve ever heard of this ‘band’ then you’ll know that there has probably never been a greater paring of new artist and song they’re covering in the history of cover songs. So this shall be quite the pajamas of the feline.

4. Dino-Mike will be performing a cover of “You Make Me”. He tells me that it’s going to be earth shatteringly different from the original, so we have that to look forward to. Though if it turns out that it’s not all that earth shatteringly different then I suppose we can always ridicule him until the end of time.

Okay, that’s all I will divulge for now, was that good enough? Did that satiate your inhuman lust for information on the Weird Al tribute CD?

Revealing Stuff, One Update at a Time #1

I thought as the album comes closer and closer to release (even though we don’t know exactly when that will be, we do know that it’ll be sometime in the future, so as time passes we can reasonably assume that the release will be coming sooner then the previous day) I’d release small bits of information about the CD through these updates.

This way you’ll be periodically notified about something on the disc so we can hopefully satisfy your interest while you continue to not have a CD in your possession. So, here is the first bit of information regarding what songs artists are planning to record. Keep in mind that any information released on these updates is likely to change upon the final release, either slightly or drastically.

1. Marc with a C will be performing a cover of “Good Enough for Now”. This particular track was previously released on Marc’s cover song collection “Share the Covers, B****! (Part Two)”. As a preview of songs to come from the album you can listen to the song for free directly from this update!

2. mc chris will be performing a cover of “I Lost on Jeopardy”. That’s right a cover of a parody! I think you all will really enjoy what Chris came up with, at least I did. It was quite interesting hearing Chris sing this, since as I’m sure most of you know he’s known for his rapping talents.

Alright, how’s that? Are you at least partially more excited for the release? Cool! Talk with ya next update!
